Over de kunstenaar MAKING WORLDS. The bright world of happiness. Petra Hart is a digital artist and has been working on her series of art pieces for her collection Making Worlds, since 2006. Petra's work is highly imaginative and is created on the computer. It is one hundred percent digital and produces by transferring images directly from computer generated digital files to photographic materials, making it a highly contemporary production process and giving the highest quality in terms of brightness, clarity, sharpness and color saturation. The final layer is liquid glass with Swarovski Crystals or diamonds. Handmade.
In 2010 she exhibited at Art Amsterdam ‘10 for the first time, after having had a successful exhibition, Manga, at the Kerseboom Gallery, in Amsterdam. This exhibition included work by contemporary Japanese artists like Takashi Murakami, Aya Toshikawa, Saori Nakamishi, Noriko Ito, Aya Rokkaku, Aya Takano, Maki Hosokawa, Hiro Ando and Yoshitomo Nara. Since September 2010 she has had several exhibitions at the Wanrooij Gallery from Arnhem in Amsterdam, Brussels, London and New York City.
Her works of art often features nature; beautiful flowers, the earth, the sea, rivers. For Petra the world is a polar system, just as in nature. Everything balances out everything else and so it is neutral again. She is here for the positive.
‘Nature is the best idea anybody ever came up with. Humans draw from the earth, whether it be money or creativity, or imagination! Everything stems from the universe - it truly is the most important concept there is. It is such a great concept that everyone can simply live.’
At the moment she is very interested in miniscule life and its structures. She often uses her microscope or looks at the moon and the stars through her telescope. Over the years she has collected things from nature; shells, branches, starfishes, skeletons, butterflies or bird’s nests and insects, stones, rocks or flowers. She dries them and collects them all in her studio where they lie, waiting to be drawn.
She generally only create positive things, to take the good things from life. To get people to look at the world in a different way, by creating a skyline, for example, with people dancing on the skyscrapers, mountains with cut-out circles, the enlargement of insects or radiolarians. The image alienates, one does exist and the other one doesn’t. Petra hopes this makes people think again about the world in which we live. The foundation, the beauty.
And that's what Making Worlds is about.
